Every four years, 7-Eleven has a unique boast: sales of their presidential-themed coffee cups foretell who will win the election. And the 2012 election was no different.
We were charged with creating a standout in-store campaign that would drive coffee cup sales and keep their fortunetelling streak perfect. We took it to the next level, with themed coffee cups, window banners and a patriotic coffee island that looked like a voting booth.
The result was a 2013 Cannes Silver Lion, a whole lotta decisive coffee drinkers (Obama cups won the day, thus keeping the prediction streak alive) and record sales. Now that’s one historic cup ‘o joe.
